Conor McGregor’s Proper No.12 Twelve Whiskey is now available to buy in the UK.
Morrisons supermarket is the exclusive home of the whiskey, while it will be stocked online from May.
Conor McGregor’s whiskey has become one of the leading brands in the world and fast
McGregor is, of course, the biggest star the MMA world has ever seen and is still very much in the midst of his UFC career following his loss to Dustin Poirier last month.
Plans are being put in place for a third fight with Poirier in the summer this year, but McGregor has proven to be an entrepreneur outside of the octagon too.
Proper Twelve launched in September 2018 in only Ireland and the United States and, in just a few short months, McGregor said the brand had sold ‘hundreds of thousands’ of bottles.
McGregor’s whiskey had only previously been available in Ireland and the United States
The whiskey is named after the Crumlin neighbourhood in Dublin 12, the postal code in which McGregor grew up. He also has a fashion line that produces suits which he launched after his fight with Floyd Mayweather called August McGregor. He co-founded that business with tailoring brand David August.
In 2019, it was reported Proper No. 12 helped push whiskey sales past $1billion in the United States, which was a 12 per cent increase in sales from year to year.
Reports have also stated that Proper No. 12 sold out a six-month allocation in its first ten days and shipped about 200,000 nine-litre cases since its launch. The 200,000 cases were sold for around $35-40million.
Proper Twelve will retail for £22 in Morrisons
On Instagram, McGregor said after their first year they had raked in over $1bn in sales alone.
“Over $1b generated in Whiskey sales in my first year! Like it or not, there is a new King in town! Proper Whiskey, liquid sunshine!”
With Proper Twelve now expanding to the UK, McGregor’s whiskey business is bound to go from strength to strength. And while McGregor continues to rake in the cash, he has donated $1m of profit to first responders in the US, he funded a project to build eight homes for the homeless in Ireland and donated $27,000 worth of toys to children in need for Christmas in 2019.
Jack Coleclough, Spirits Buying Manager at Morrisons, said: “Proper Twelve has created a lot of hype since it first launched; not just because of McGregor’s ‘notorious’ reputation, but also because it’s a fantastic quality spirit in its own right.
“We’re excited to now make it readily available in Morrisons spirits aisles across the UK, taking our whiskey range into the heavyweight category.”
Proper Twelve is available in Morrisons stores from today, and can be bought online from May
